iTunes Review

Bentley’s eighth studio album is filled with heartfelt storytelling and wide-screen production. It’s hard not to get swept away with the echoing guitars and deeply human stories of Black—whether we’re lost in the passionate flood of the title track or on the breezy rebound fling of “Somewhere on a Beach.” While the inspired collaborations (with Trombone Shorty, Elle King, or songwriter Maren Morris) speak to his genre-bending appeal, it’s personal, introspective tracks like “Why Do I Feel” and “All the Way to Me” that hit the hardest.

Black is the heart..the light in the dark

By now, we have witnessed the taste of Dierks' life. The map drawn of a rambler, a true modern-day drifter. We've shared the pain of lost love, the memory of family, and the celebration of life. Now, we all grab a spade and dig deep into the crevices of the heart. We feel the lonesomeness and forget the brokenness of love that is no more. Dierks is opening his heart in the album, so that we can do the same. When black is the heart, it IS the light in the dark.

Spending Too Much Time w/ Luke Bryan

Here we go again with the identical sounding, cookie-cutter garbage that is played by almost every "country" (?) radio station now. Looks like the Chris Stapletons and Jamie Johnsons of the world have ultimately lost out to the pop stars. I like Dierks Bently, just not this junk he's singing (he is the same guy that did Up On a Ridge, right?).

Classic Dierks

I've only heard two songs on this album and I can already tell it's gonna be a classic Dierks sound, and an album that will be on repeat for me as soon as this pre-order copy comes in the mail! No doubt, my favorite country artist. #black

Genre: Country

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Growing up in a non-musical family in Phoenix, Arizona, country singer Dierks Bentley got his country music education on his own, listening to records. A love of the music inspired him to move to Nashville at the age of 19, but he quickly grew discouraged by the lack of public and professional interest coming his way. It all changed when he walked into the Station Inn, a bar where the bluegrass faithful hung out. An all-night jam session recharged his batteries and he again started pursuing gigs....
