a very solid and catchy cd!

it's strange to me how many people diss this cd because they think it's too poppy! collective soul has never been a flat out rock band, they have so much deversity in their songs and if you have followed them than you would know that! albums like hints and allegations, disciplined breakdown, dosage and even their self titled album had some mid tempo pop rock with slower songs,it was not all heavy guitar riffs! in my opinion blender is a very solid and catchy cd with underated songs such as after all, perfect day, turn around, why pt 2,ten years later, and boast.this cd was almost like a dosage pt 2 for me and for me that's a good thing .i dont believe that this is collective souls worst cd,alot of people will disagree with me and thats ok,

I have only really started to get in to Collective Soul during the past two years. I don't know why, but I knew that I would like Blender. It was something about the album's name, cover, and feel that lead to me buying it without having heard it first. It is definitely underrated, probably because it came right after one of Collective Soul's most popular records (Dosage). Why Pt. 2 and Perfect Day are excellent, radio-friendly singles. Skin, Boast, Turn Around, and Over Tokyo are also great songs that have received little recognition. Vent is probably my favorite track on the album; it is a lot funkier than your typical Collective Soul rock song. One iTunes reviewer gave this album two stars and called it generic, among other things. It is easy to see that they are in the minority. If you like American hard rock, I don't think you will be disappointed here.

Highly Overlooked!

I'm gonna list 5 of my favorites & why I liked them:

Vent & Why Pt.2: Catchy power pop with a hard rock edge.
You Speak My Language: Despite Blender being their poppiest album, this song is an energetic, slightly industrial heavy metal song that kicks a lot of a**!
Perfect Day: Catchy, mellow piano rock in classic Elton style.
Happiness: The other "metal" song on the album, paired with a great resonating chorus.

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

When Seattle grunge went mainstream, it was only a matter of time before the ripple effect was felt in regions other than the Pacific Northwest. The Georgia-based quintet Collective Soul -- along with fellow inheritors of the then commercially lucrative post-grunge landscape like Live, Bush, and Candlebox -- developed the genre into a more succinct brand of angst, turning the sonic cacophony of bands like Mudhoney and the Melvins into radio-friendly hard rock. Collective Soul (whose name borrowed...
