Album Review

Vol. 2 of Third Day's retrospective focused on the years where the Southern rock band gained notoriety while scaling back its rock sound. Though each half of Chronology covered four albums, they were weighted much differently as the band produced more AC light rock in its later years. The band was highly influential in the Christian rock world during this period of its career, and its influence seemed second to none as subsequent releases Wire and Wherever You Are garnered critical success and strong sales. Still, there was no mistake that Chronology was a fan tribute rather than a down-the-line greatest-hits collection. In fact, six of the band's number one songs weren't included on either volume. Instead, the band conspicuously included live and alternative versions of hits along with a DVD with bootleg videos. "Carry Me to Jesus," for instance, the ubiquitous anthem for Hurricane Katrina victims, appeared here in a live recording, as did the colossal hit "God of Wonders." The true fan experience culminated with a 60-minute documentary on the second disc. Chronology was no substitute for the band's studio and live albums, though it offered fans a wealth of material to remind them how Third Day had become one of the most successful contemporary Christian bands of all time.

The Best of Third Day, Part 2

This half of the Chronology series features more recent music from the band who's brought us hits such as "Cry Out To Jesus," "Your Love Oh Lord," and "Come Together." This album brings the best from Come Together, Offerings II, Wire and Wherever You Are. Incjuding songs such as "God of Wonders," "Rockstar," "Creed," "Nothing Compares," "Mountain of God" and other bonus tracks, this is definitely the best of Third Day. This is the side of Third Day that I came in on. I became a huge fan of Third Day around the time that Wire came out in stores. This is music that I have enjoyed since I began to really fervently enjoy music. One note, though. If you buy this album on iTunes, you miss out on the DVD side of Third Day. Buy this at any store that sells it, and you get a DVD with a one-hour documentary on the first ten years of Third Day and several fun bootleg videos. Trust me, it's worth it for the extra few bucks.

<><Great Collection of Songs--BEST SONG is "I See Love"--I'd buy the whole album JUST for that><>

Highly recommend buying this album not only for a great collection of Christian songs, but for a special song, "I See Love"....great great three favorite singers (mac powell, SCC, and Bart Millard) all in one great song about Christ and what he did for us.

Simply the Best

I am a HUGE Third Day Fan. And Mac Powell, Tai Anderson, Brad Avery, David Carr, and Mark Lee are some of my favorite people on Earth! This is the second part of a "Greatest Hits" album put out by Third Day. The first CD hit stores earlier this summer, and now this has come out. Third Day is one of the "Biggest" Christian bands out there. Their heart for God, Charisma, and their sheer musical talent shines through at every concert that they play. They are the real deal. Chronology 2 focuses mainly on their newer songs and their live shows. Of course hearing them Live on a CD can't compare to seeing them life. But "Nothing compares to the greatness of knowing You Lord!" That is their message, that is their cry. Check them out!

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Influenced by the Southern rock of Lynyrd Skynyrd and other artists such as U2 and Rich Mullins, Third Day were originally formed by vocalist Mac Powell and acoustic guitarist Mark Lee. The duo added bassist Tai Anderson and drummer David Carr from another local band, and recorded some demos. Third Day's live shows gradually built them a loyal fan base, and just after lead guitarist Brad Avery joined, the band signed to Gray Dot Records. Their eponymous debut followed in 1996, with Conspiracy No....
