Ragtime Blues

This album could be described at ragtime blues. It's similar to delta blues except that it actually tends to be a bit more upbeat, but in a very humble "don't worry be happy" sort of way. Some of the lyrics are very serious but mostly it's sweet nothings meant to help ease the hardships that poverty can bring, giving us mind-expanding perspective on life for lower-income Americans in the late 1920's, and helping us appreciate our own modern comforts all the more. So perhaps it still brings about easement even today.

Something interesting about this album as that many of the tracks have what sounds like a female singer. I have no idea who that is unless it's Mr. Blake changing his voice, which I doubt. Her songs are more on the serious side while Blake's take a lighter tone.
