Album Review

The CD release of Beefeater's two Dischord albums, as with similar re-releases from the Dischord archives, offers good value for the money, including two rarer tracks from the group as bonuses. "Wars in Space" was originally a vinyl single cut that could easily fit in on Lovers, while "Blind Leads Blind," a strong number that originally appeared on a compilation with an anti-vivisection theme, features Ian Mackaye as co-vocalist with Squip.

House Burning Down-DC Punk Classic!

This is a great collection of Beefeater music--more of a collective than a band, which encapsulates why mid-80s DC punk music was the most challenging, diverse, and above all brilliant. Especially in House Burning Down (tracks 16-27), you can hear what many considered to be the maturation of the Dischord scene circa 1986, using hardcore, slap funk, jam,and raggae to concoct their radical peace anthems. It's really worth getting the LP or CD if you can, just for the art, photos and liner notes. A snapshot of an era, this was one of my first punk albums and is still one of my favorites.

Great album Itunes missing 1 song.

Itunes is missing a song. On the Dischord Records version (DIS64) Song 6 is called Manic D. It is a cover version of Jimi Hendrix Manic Depression.
