Album Review

One of the natural reactions to a release like this — studio scraps and otherwise unfinished material reanimated with new productions and patched-in guest spots, all for the sake of a "new album" from a late artist — is, of course, horror. Would Lopes approve of these vocal efforts being polished up, without her input, for release? Would she approve of the productions and the "collaborators"? There's some relief in knowing that a portion of the sales will be going to Lopes' charity for Honduran children, and the album was clearly put together with a lot of love and respect. It neither looks nor sounds like an opportunistic release. In fact, it is stronger all-around than Supernova, the poor 2001 album that never came out in the States, with the stitches less audible than the average post-humous album. And yet, nothing here comes close to rivaling the best TLC material, not even the song that features Chilli and T-Boz. A partial list of other contributors: Bobby Valentino, Wanya Morris, Chamillionaire, Missy Elliott, Lil Mama, and Lopes' sister Reigndrop.

The Must Have Album!

This album inspires me 2 the extreme! Her words r amazing. My fav song on this album would be Spread Your Wings! R.I.P. Left Eye!

I hate how ppl have never given Left Eye a chance. Her music and lyrics are just so inspirational and uplifting. The depth of this album is ridiculious! My favs are "Let it Out" and "Through the Pain". She was always a lyrical genius and quite brilliant, but sadly ppl only wanted to see bad things. I hope everyone was as touched by this album as I was! R.I.P. Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes - You are so dearly missed, but NEVER forgotten

Lisa Lives On

Sometimes you have to listen to an album a second time just to make sure the vibe you were feeling at the time was real. I was preoccupied with something else while listening to it and found myself grooving to every track on the album which is rare in this day in age of albums with two to three decent songs. While comprised of a lot of remixes from Lisa's rarely heard Supernova album, Eye Legacy is infused with infectiously fresh collaborations from Bobby Valention, Missy, and the stand-out song with Wanya Morris--Let it Out. For those looking for that dirty ATL party sound, it's all there tracks like Bounce and the remix of Block Party. Legendary (a track that originally featured 2Pac on Supernova) showcases Lisa talents on the mic which are often overshadowed by her sometimes overly dramatic delivery. Put her voice aside which can sometimes distract (not as much as Lil Wayne's), Lisa Lopes was one of raps most talented writers, much like Kanye West--eccentric, meaningful and impactful with their delivery. Eye Legacy is one of the first sleepers of 2009, hopefully this masterpiece won't go unnoticed like the original form of this: Supernova.
