Album Review

While 99.9 F° is not the techno album that Suzanne Vega was rumored to be making, it does offer a significant departure from her previous contemporary folk albums. Vega uses more synthesizers and drum machines, often evoking a bizarre carnivalesque atmosphere on the album. Still, 99.9 F° is a folk album at heart; every song is steeped in traditional song form, and Vega's writing is strong. Fans of Vega's previous work might be taken aback, but those willing to listen to the album will find that she has produced one of her strongest yet.

Music Changes things..

To all who knew her from Luka, try this album too. This album is a folk electronica, rock album holding onto the storytelling aspects of folk. These songs are the sort that stay with you and beg you to visit the characters again and again. I listened to Blood Makes Noise, track #2, over and over when I made the decision to move to NYC. Suzanne's music has become an important part of the sound track of my life. This was the album that made that happen.

I mean really good

the title song is a winner! But here's the thing: so are all the others! She's got that folk base and mixes in rock here and there for a nice blend. She's ecclectic, so be ready for a little awakening. When I first got my CD player, this was the only CD I had in it for a month straight. I still listen to it, but now I've added her self-titled album, Suzanne Vega!!!

I love suzanne

...and you do too....though you may not know it yet. --- Come on pick this up and find what you've really been looking for all along.

Suzanne Vega was the first major figure in the bumper crop of female singer/songwriters who rose to prominence during the late '80s and '90s. Her hushed, restrained folk-pop and highly literate lyrics (inspired chiefly by Leonard Cohen, as well as Lou Reed and Bob Dylan) laid the initial musical groundwork for what later became the trademark sound of Lilith Fair (a tour on which she was a regular). Moreover, her left-field hit single "Luka" helped convince record companies that folk-styled singer/songwriters...
