misunderstood band

Manowar is a widely misunderstood band. Their music is much more than strong men with big egos. I think they appealed to moral values like honor and courage, widely forgotten in the corporate culture of the 1980's.

Nowadays, pop culture in US has been influenced by movies like Braveheart, Lord of the Rings, etc. and those epic fantasies are more common, but Manowar was completely immersed in a fantasy world of heroes more than 20 years ago. Their fans would be more common now but in the 80's the cult for a surreal world of wizards and warriors could be seen as a diagnosticable antisocial dosorder. in that sense when I go back to find in movies what I like i could find Conan or Krull but when I go back in metal the only band that truly sticks to a whole discourse of fantasy and war is Manowar, inspiring those who beleive in forgotten values.

Manowar strikes again

I will say that at first I didn't care for "Pleasure Slave" but then I found it to be pretty good like the other tracks off this album. The highlight song in my book is the title track. Other bands play Manowar kills!!! no doubt about it. I prefer Battle Hymns but this one is fine too. ^_^

recommended for lovers of true metal

Steeped in the pageantry of heavy metal, the group's approach was designed to be the raw, primal, Viking antithesis of classic rock, and their music followed suit, based on raw, aggressive riffs, with lyrics that were...
