iTunes Review

The album that finally reveals a superstar. Sampha Sisay spent his nascent career becoming music’s collaborator à la mode—his CV includes impeccable work with the likes of Solange, Drake, and Jessie Ware—and Process fully justifies his considered approach to unveiling a debut full-length. It’s a stunning album that sees the Londoner inject raw, gorgeous emotion into each of his mini-epics. His electronic R&B sounds dialed in from another dimension on transformative opener “Plastic 100°C,” and “Incomplete Kisses” is an anthem for the broken-hearted that retains a smoothness almost exclusive to this very special talent. “(No One Knows Me) Like the Piano,” meanwhile, makes a solid case for being 2017’s most beautiful song.

Sampha has undoubtedly shown his individuality with this record and thankfully decided to pry out of his low-key persona. Outside of main plays, his other tracks, 'Kora Sings' and 'Under' rejuvenate his past electronica productions circa ep "Dual". Current favorite, 'Reverse Faults' allows a combination of vibrant spacey reverbs like the likes of long time collaborator SBTRKT with a touch of Ocean's "Orange Album". Spring 2016's first word debut from Sampha, 'Timmy's Prayer' still remains a fan fave that gives the feels every time, along with support of The Fader's cover issue opening up Sampha to the public. 'No One...', a whirlwind of emotions, as well as ,'What Shouldn't I Be?' shine a light on family lost, and the exact process of this whole album. Sampha Sisay's talent and artistry has exploded over the years with realizations of Beyoncé and Drake, yet his preference to remain in the distance until Kanye's 'Pablo' and Solange's 'Don't Touch My Hair'. "Process" grants an expansion to his producing skills and ultimately share his deep toned U.K. voice on his current tour and sincerely with the rest of the world. Kudos!

Very beautiful music

Genre: Electronic

Years Active: '10s

Sampha Sisay is a singer, songwriter, keyboardist, and producer whose artful and emotive mix of pop, R&B, and electronic music isn't easily categorized. He started making music early in his teenage years and attempted to get MCs to rhyme over his beats, but he was rebuffed. In 2009, however, the South London native remixed the xx track "Basic Space," which led to a busy schedule throughout 2010 and 2011. During those two years, his profile was raised significantly through collaborations with SBTRKT,...
