A good sampler

Willie's output for Lost Highway has been rather spotty, and I'm saying that as a die hard life long Willie fan. His most solid efforts have actually come more recently, as Willie seems to have stopped looking for that big Top 40 crossover hit (or 'adult contemporary' or whatever the radio formats are now). With that in mind, this is actually a great way to get the cream of his Lost Highway efforts without slogging through half-baked albums (pun intended, sorry!). The first half of this collection really shines, highlighting his better efforts at crossover pop/country. This might not be 'essential' Willie Nelson, but it is very enjoyable and risk-free collection. BTW, what's with the idiotic troll reviews here obviously by the same 'reviewer'. Ignore them.

Lost Highway

Willie is a legend and will be long after he is gone. His music will prove that out. If you don't like his music that is fine as it is a matter of taste but if you want to insult him than I must ask "what have you done to match his contribution to anything" then I will answer by saying. . . "NOTHING". I like this collection and I hope you keep on singing Willie.

Willie is still vital

I have been enjoying the songs from this album, and have to hand it to Willie for still getting out there and giving his all, whether it's on stage or in the studio. He's a talented guy who might be a little rough around the edges as the years continue to add up. But I believe he's out to please his fans and his audiences more than himself. I'm glad he's still performing and recording. I've been a fan since the early 1960's and have enjoyed all of the different phases re-inventions he's gone through with his music. He gives back to his country and is a hard worker for good causes. My only complaint is that most of the selections are re-dos of previous recordings. We need more new material. Give good ole Willie a listen - you might enjoy at least a few of these songs.

As a songwriter and a performer, Willie Nelson played a vital role in post-rock & roll country music. Although he didn't become a star until the mid-'70s, Nelson spent the '60s writing songs that became hits for stars like Ray Price ("Night Life"), Patsy Cline ("Crazy"), Faron Young ("Hello Walls"), and Billy Walker ("Funny How Time Slips Away") as well as releasing a series of records on Liberty and RCA that earned him a small but devoted cult following. During the early '70s, Willie aligned himself...
