iTunes Review

American blues has long been part of the Stones’ DNA, and Blue & Lonesome is a greasy, grimy tribute to their blues heroes. Deep cuts by the likes of Jimmy Reed, Howlin’ Wolf, Magic Sam, and Little Walter are delivered with soulful reverence, showing that even rock ‘n’ roll legends are still just music fans at heart.

Recorded in 3 days ... 50 years in the making

It's hard to believe an album this great was recorded in 3 days to take a break from recording a new Stones album. Read the Rolling Stone review and related article about why this was done in 3 days and then listen again .. it will take this album to a whole new level. I agree with Keith Richards that Mick Jagger is the star of this show. His command of the harp and his vocals have never been better. And as Keith says, "And the band ain't too shabby".

When you think about greatness .. whether its music, leadership, business .. anywhere you look .. two things are absolutely necessary - authenticity and passion. Both are evident on this collection. This isn't an interpretation of the blues - this IS the blues by artists who came together initially because of the blues and never strayed from those roots. In my playlists, I have a playlist of the Stone's blues songs, so when Lonesome & Blue came out, I said, "Finally!" And this album surpasses every expectation. I can't imagine a better Christmas gift from the greatest rock n roll (blues) band in the world. Ladies and Gentlemen, The Rolling Stones!

Not so Good

The only song I really liked was "Blue & Lonesome" On most of the others Mick sounds the same. Lyrically and tempo wise it seems the same , that's just me ... I wanted to like it more because I love the Stones and I love the BLUES

CD's Review

If you love The Rolling Stones, and the blue you'll love Blue And Lonesome.

By the time the Rolling Stones began calling themselves the World's Greatest Rock & Roll Band in the late '60s, they had already staked out an impressive claim on the title. As the self-consciously dangerous alternative to the bouncy Merseybeat of the Beatles in the British Invasion, the Stones had pioneered the gritty, hard-driving blues-based rock & roll that came to define hard rock. With his preening machismo and latent maliciousness, Mick Jagger became the prototypical rock frontman, tempering...
