Album Review

Puddle of Mudd's story is every struggling musician's dream come true: armed with a fake backstage pass, frontman Wes Scantlin snuck the band's demo to a Limp Bizkit security guy at a show in their native Kansas City, and less than one year later finds his group's debut album the first release on Fred Durst's new label. Thankfully, Come Clean sounds nothing like Limp Bizkit; Puddle of Mudd's aggro-rock sound is similar to every other Alice in Chains- and Tool-influenced band to come along in the past few years. The opening, "Control," milks the loud/quiet formula that Nirvana brought back to life, but adds some interesting stop-time changes during the break, while the acoustic balladry of "Drift & Die" will sound familiar, sounding like something Layne Staley could have written.

Puddle of Mudd Nails it!

Before the Alternitave breakout in 2000, there were millions of new bands with talent, and each had its own distinct sound. However, as 2000 rounded the curb new bands showed a lack of talent, and the masses of them same, save for a few. After the Breakout, everything on the radio sounded the same, except for a few bands; Nickelback, Disturbed, Crossfade, and Breaking Benjamin, and Puddle of Mudd. So, I must conclude that this is one of my all time favorite, and most listened to album in my collection for obvious reasons. Their sound is fresh, and this cd still out does many of new recordings 5 years later. If you are any sort of rock/hard rock fan, this album is meant for you, but don't pick and choose songs from it, buy teh whole thign cause it's worth it.

It's One of Those Albums.

This is just one of those albums that is just great. I admit I listened to some horrible crap when I was little but this CD was one of the great ones. Every song is addictive. If you buy this CD you will not regret itat all.

awesome!

love it. the song Blurry is from Ace Combat 5! my prayers have been answered!!!!

One of the first acts signed to Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst's label, Flawless Records, was the alt-metal quartet Puddle of Mudd — consisting of Wesley Scantlin (guitar and vocals), Paul Phillips (guitar), Douglas Ardito (bass), and Greg Upchurch (drums). While their songs expectedly contain the rage of such contemporaries as Korn and Rage Against the Machine, Scantlin's voice at times is eerily similar to Nirvana's late, great frontman, Kurt Cobain, containing unmistakable elements of traditional...
