SmoothJazz.com Review

SandyShore,

When fire meets air things start to heat up and when music meets passion, it’s the same thing… Discover “One Summer Day," a beautiful new song from masterful acoustic guitarist Ken Navarro. Ken’s new album “BONFIRE” features thirteen diverse tracks of smooth jazz, fusion, rock and global grooves, all sharing a summer vibe and melodic richness. Navarro has had well over twenty recordings on the music charts over the past 25+ years… BONFIRE will prove to be no exception. The innovative composer plays every instrument on the album, focusing foremost on guitars, and venturing off into all the other sonic elements you hear on this hot new release! Warm up the speakers, start BONFIRE and let the summer begin, no matter what time of year. ~ Sandy Shore

Looking forward

ScottCNC,

Looking forward to this release from Mr. Navarro. Having grown up in western Howard County, MD, i'm wondering if the song 'Larriland' isn't by chance named after the beautifully graceful 'Larriland Farms' just down the road from where I grew up. Sweet sounds Ken!

About Ken Navarro

Contemporary jazz guitarist Ken Navarro was born June 9, 1953, in Lafayette, IN; he began his career as a Los Angeles session player, working on projects headlined by everyone from Doc Severinsen to Nell Carter to Dave Koz. He made his solo debut in 1990 with The River Flows, issued on his own Positive Music imprint; the follow-up, After Dark, earned a Grammy nomination. Subsequent efforts include 1994's Pride & Joy, 1996's Christmas Cheer, 1998's Ablaze in Orlando, and 2000's Island Life. For his next two records, Navarro took a break from running his own label, moving to Shanachie and releasing Slow Dance and All the Way in 2002 and 2003, respectively. However, he moved back to Positive Music in 2005 to issue Love Colored Soul, an album followed up by The Meeting Place, which was initially available on his website in November 2006 and then in stores in January 2007. ~ Jason Ankeny
