iTunes Review

In 1966, Nancy Sinatra put herself on the radar by not only costarring in the outlaw biker film The Wild Angels but also releasing her debut solo album, Boots. Together, the movie and album helped Sinatra shape her image of a tough young woman divorced from her father Frank’s cocktail-swilling generation. Here, she opens with a symphonic pop rendition of The Rolling Stones’ “As Tears Go By” that’s crossed with Sergio Mendes–inspired bossa nova. Sinatra’s performance sounds more seductive and coy than the regal version sung by Marianne Faithful in 1964. Sinatra counters Stones with Beatles in the following go-go take on The Fab Four’s “Day Tripper.” Since Lee Hazlewood produced the album, it was inevitable for Sinatra to sing a few of his originals, but this proved a solid fit. His intricately arranged “I Move Around” plays like a much hipper Sonny & Cher song, while “So Long, Babe” is fittingly flippant. And of course the intimidating and catchy hit “These Boots Were Made for Walkin’” cemented a workable chemistry between the two.

This Chick is Groovy

There are three 8 tracks to pop into the stereophonic system to score with a babe on a Saturday Night. Ms. Sinatra, any Neil Diamond collection or Barry White's Can Get Enough. Nancy is the height of 60's fashion, music and hipness. Whether it is rescuing a Beatles song such as Day Tripper from obscurity or breathing life into the Beach Boys In My Room Nancy is the siren of her generation. And with those boots she could walk all over me all night long!

Awesome album!!!!!!!

This album is so gr8!!!!! The song "These Boots are Made for Walkin'" is soooo much better than that one that Jessica Simpson did! Nancy Sinatra's is more pratical and it has a better sound to the "yeee haaa" in Jess' album. I think it has a gr8 sound and i love it!!!!!!

complete classic

I grew up with listening to this album which belonged to my older sister. Every song is amazing. Every cover she does has her stamp on it, and many are better than the originals. It's complete 60s sophistication and style, but alot of fun too. "Lies", "Flowers on the Wall" and "Run for Your Life" are my personal favorites. Yeah, "Boots" is the popular one, but for me, as a kid, I didn't know it was the hit over the rest of them. I had no biases listening to this album, and as a result, I loved all of the songs on it equally. She got every bit of "cool" from her father, and you can hear it on this album. The arrangements are fantastic.

Growing up as the child of one of the greatest icons in American music can't be easy, but Nancy Sinatra managed to create a sound and style for herself fully separate from that of her (very) famous father, and her sexy but strong-willed persona has endured with nearly the same strength as the image of the Chairman of the Board. Nancy Sinatra was born in the Summer of 1940, while her father, Frank Sinatra, was singing with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra; as the daughter of show business royalty, Nancy...
