funk at its best

Cody- I will not attack you, but inform you that easy-e sampled bootsy's music. Please do your homework. Think about it, how could a song that originally aired in the 70's be stolen by NWA, who formed in the 90's. Hmmmm? Makes ya think. The album is great anyhoo despite what others think

This album is a good "first look" for those who may not know his music or those who want to hear more than the usual songs by him. Many of past and present day rapper's and DJ's have sampled or used his music, (especially the bass lines), for their own music. And, yes, NWA did use his music, as did Snoop Dogg and many,many others. The West Coast used a lot of his music and, IMHO, the "West Coast Sound" is heavily influenced by "Mr. Boots" and the Funk genre.

Bootsy Collins is one of the all-time great funk and R&B bassists, besides being a consummate character. Born in Cincinnati, Collins formed the Pacesetters during the '60s, a unit that not only included vocalist Philippe Wynne (later of Spinners fame), but also George Clinton as a sideman. Collins and Clinton soon established a lifelong personal and musical friendship, and Collins and his comrades became part of the JB's, James Brown's backing band, from 1969 to 1971.
