Current Kingston Trio keeps current!

Not a traditional Kingston Trio song on it! The current (since 2004) Kingston Trio (Bill Zorn, George Grove and Rick Dougherty) has wanted to record a CD of all new material - all in the same spirit as earlier recordings, but featuring the great sources of this contemporary version of the Trio. Don't miss this nice treasure!

Wonderful Harmonies

Original songs; beautifully and intricately performed! Bob Shane is featured in two songs including a fun and ("original Calypsonian Trio-ish") tribute to the Trio's hits and success.

Don't Miss

It only took the Kingston Trio 40 years and a complete turnover of personnel to finally record an album of all new material, and it was worth the wait. The current group does sound different- the originals each had distinctive voices- but these three blend beautifully. Over the years it was discouraging that every time the rare new Trio album was recorded, it was filled with remakes. People go to concerts to hear the old hits; they don't want them endlessly remade in the studio! Finally, Grove, Zorn and Daugherty got that, and delivered what should have been done so many times before. Not a single remake. My favorite right now is REAL OLD STYLE. Hard to listen to without a tear.

The Kingston Trio were one such group, transforming folk music into a hot commodity and creating a demand — where none had existed before — for young men (sometimes with women) strumming acoustic guitars and banjos and singing folk songs and...
