21 Songs, 1 Hour 11 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

This double album features songs about the road and then performances from it. “Sitting in My Hotel” explains Davies’ view of the tedium of endless, nameless hotels. “Celluloid Heroes” is the centerpiece, a straightforward piano tune that recounts in a somber tone the names along Hollywood Boulevard. The live album is the sound of a band drunkenly finding their way through their songs. “Alcohol” is direct. “Acute Schizophrenia Paranoia Blues” is subtler. The '60s hit “Till the End of the Day” is cruising toward '70s arena rock. “Skin & Bone” sounds like they’re ready for Las Vegas, except it’s just Davies indulging his every whim.
