Excellent Sound and Performance

I have three versions of the Brendenburgs in my library and Hogwood's with AAM is by far the best. Sound is clear and the performances on period instruments allow one to hear the music as the composer would have.

Bach, J.S. : The Brandenburg Concertos

Having been a fan of Christopher Hogwood and the Academy of Ancient Music for some 20 years (and a fan of Bach's music for even longer), I truly enjoyed listening to these concertos. Hogwood and the Academy of Ancient Music perform these works on period instruments with the numbers of musicians as originally intended by the composer. The result of these efforts is a body of work that contemporary Kings and Princes would have easily recognized and enjoyed.

Hogwood chose members who were not only masters of their instruments, but also scholars of performance style of the period. The orchestra quickly gained recognition for its authentic performances...
