About Breakfast In Fur

A shape-shifting indie rock unite from the Catskills, New Platz, New York-based Breakfast in Fur, named after a 1936 sculpture by Swiss surrealist and photographer Méret Oppenheim, crafts experimental, psych-tinged confections that flirt with IDM, post-rock, folk, and ambient pop. Formed in 2007 around the talents of Dan Wolfe, Kaitlin Van Pelt, Mike Hollis, Chris Walker, and Pete Newman, the band, which was at first just Wolfe and Van Pelt, issued an independent, largely bedroom folk-driven eponymous EP in 2011 before inking a deal with Bar/None Records. The band's debut long-player, the more psych-rock oriented Flyaway Garden, was released in February 2015. ~ James Christopher Monger
