America's Best Song Writer

Dan Bern's words and melodies can grow into you and, on this record, haunt you. On initial listens, I was dissapointed not to hear the incredible trademark humor dan is known for and exudes in his great live shows. Instead, he seems to adopted a bit of despair over world events. On repeated listens, it is clear that he has again written some classics in Breathe, Trudy, Suicide Room, and Past Belief. Great work Dan and I hope you find reason to cheer up soon.

Amazing

WOW!!!! What a great CD. I have all Bern's CDs and this is the best. Deeper and more potent than others. Great to see a great writer of music and lyrics keep getting better.

Dan Bern is Brilliant (again)

How does he keep coming up with this stuff? Dan Bern has written literally hundreds of brilliant songs over the years, and he shows no sign of slowing down. In the past I've always preferred his live performances over his studio albums, but this one really captures his essence like no other. Tongue-Tied is soulful and beautiful, Trudy is fun, and the title song is classic Bern...light on the surface but deep underneath.
