Waited a long time for this album. It's above average. The Black Belles seem
to be a band that's so raw in the beginning but will grow with each album they produce - a lot like early White Stripes -

Great Guitar!

There is some serious guitar on this album. It's fuzzy and fantastic. My problem with this album, however, is the vocals. It's not the quality of the vocals, per se, but the usage. It's a bit oddball and doesn't fit with the instrumentals. There's a dissonance in my ears between the singing in an almost Gwen Stefani-like ska vocal and the killer guitar. They just seemed to miss the mark on this.
What I want to know is, how can I hear more of the guitarist, but with different vocals? An instrumental album would be amazing in fact.
As it is, this album reminds me of any ska band crossed with The Black Keys. Or possibly an early Bree Sharp before she honed her skills.
The one track that truly stands out for me, though, is Pushing Up Daisies. A seriously awesome track.

These girls kill.

The self titled debut!!! Finally. These girls are so killer, SO raw and awesome. Buy this album and play it really loud in your car. The opening track alone is enough to pull you in and make you want to keep listening.
