Amazing new direction!

This is a bold, catchy new direction for Sigur! It immediately hits hard and licks you right in the face!

Sigur Ros Can Do Anything

I'm not going to lie, I did not have the pleasure of knowing Sigur Ros since Von. I first heard them through Takk…But, that does not mean I am not a die-hard fan and did not listen to all of their albums (which I have). Valtari was absolutely wonderful, but I do have to say, Kveikur is going to be one heck of an album. If Brennisteinn is an indication of what is to come, then I think I am going to faint. This song is so similar to the Von album: it's dark yet imaginative, and it has such a power to it. Kveikur is going to be the flip side of Valtari, sort of like Yin & Yang. The sound is more aggressive (relative to Sigur Ros's previous few albums) but that does not mean it doesn't lack the magic that Sigur Ros always supplies with their songs. Seriously, do yourself a favor and buy this song, and get ready for Sigur Ros's album, Kveikur, on June 18th.

Sigur Ros in its most raw form

I'll be honest, when I heard Sigur Ros was working on a new album so soon after releasing Valtari, I was a bit skeptical that it could be anything close to the quality of Aegetis or Takk, but seeing the video for this song, my jaw simply dropped. It's a darker, more industrial-sounding Sigur Ros and it's the best Sigur Ros song I've heard since Hoppipolla. If this ends up being any indication of how good Kveikur is going to be then Sigur Ros may have their new magnus opus.

Named in part after a sister of one of the bandmembers, Reykjavik, Iceland's Sigur Rós (Victory Rose) was formed by guitarist and vocalist Jón Þór Birgisson (who later went by the name Jónsi), bassist Georg Holm, and drummer Ágúst Ævar Gunnarsson. Formed in early 1994 while the members were teenagers, the trio's first recorded song earned them a deal with Iceland's Bad Taste label. Their sprawling debut LP, Von (Hope), was released in 1997, followed the next year by a collection of remixes from that...
