Brand X Music

Brand X Music is an extremely popular Epica group. While they are not quite as well-known as the giant trio of Two Steps From Hell, Immediate, and Audiomachine, they aspire to be and are well on their way. This album is a compilation, as are most Epica albums you'll find on iTunes, and it brings together many of their best tracks. It is not, however, altogether brilliant. Brand X is known for it's 'last stand', apocalyptic type trailer music (and no, that's not all trailer music has to offer), and I was eager to see this released in album form at last, but I was disappointed to see that there weren't altogether a lot of those pieces. Sure, there were some stand-out tracks such as 'All or Nothing', 'Eventide', or anything with the word 'dragon' in the title, but overall it sounded too electronic and strange. Particularly 'Knuckle Up', 'Bring the Pain', 'Dogs of War', and 'Painkiller' felt like the background music to a torture scene, rather than an epic trailer. It felt weird and out of place. I'm glad to see that they've now released 'Volume 15' to the public, which is more faithful to their original style.

Love this Track!

Why did I not hear about this group sooner! My favorite track is certainly Bring the Pain, as it really gets your blood pumping and heart racing. I'm a writer and I listen to a lot of instrumental music, so I am always searching for good music like this can transport me to different places or help me visualize scenes.

A Definite Yes!

This is an album I would recommend. I don't normally stumble across a new band easily, but this is worth it. Great tones and the tempos vary enough to add extra color.
