Album Review

It could be argued that Jimmie's Chicken Shack's variation of Chili Pepper funk-metal sounds out of date in 1999, but it could be argued just as convincingly that it was out of date on their 1997 major-label debut, too. It just points out that the genre was sort of played-out by the end of the decade. Bring Your Own Stereo, Jimmies' sequel to Pushing the Salmanilla Envelope, pretty much follows through on its successor, delivering an energetic set of party rock. It doesn't push the boundaries much, but it thankfully isn't as outright juvenile as their earlier albums (although this remains quite sophomoric, naturally). In short, it's the kind of album that will please fans, without winning any new ones over.

Not a distance record

This album has a great start with Lazy Boy and especially Do Right, however Jimmie seems to lose steam about half way through. iTunes has made all the work easy for this one, as I dont have to put the cd in to listen to 2 tracks. Good effort Jimmie, but just not working for me.

Amazing Music

This is an unbelievably good CD!!!!

Its almost sad that people dont really know who these guys are. You can hear their influence in anything from ska music to punk music to rockmusic. Listen closely to their music and you'll hear many voices of your modern day superstars. They were innovaters and because they never had the greatest label and because maybe their agent sucked they disappeared and it doesn't mean they never had an influence on the music world. I would reccomend this album to anything from less than jake fans to incubus fans to bosstone fans and far beyond all of these. Keep rockin JCS.

Jimmie's Chicken Shack blends funk-metal with elements of ska and reggae but also a surprising acoustic prowess. Lead vocalist Jimmy HaHa grew up in Maryland and played with a group named Ten Times Big for several years. After the band broke up, he hit the snowboarding circuit for two years but then began several acoustic jams with friends. HaHa recruited drummer Jim Chaney (from Ten Times Big), longtime friend Che' Lemon on bass, and guitarist Dave Dowling (aka Double D) to form Jimmie's Chicken...
