Finally we get a peak at Chris Archibald's collection of hundreds of songs, and all I can say is, "wow." I am convinced that Illinois can't write a bad song. While some take longer than others to grow on you, eventually you will have them all stuck in your head. If you ever liked indie rock, banjos, hand claps, or high harmonies, check this album out.

Insanely good collection of songs

Illinois is one of the best indie bands around. I just heard this album and I must say most of the songs are awesome. "Kid catastrophe" "Irish Whiskey" and "She's So Funny" "Swimsuit" and "Old Saloon" are all great. There are only 2 real mistakes, the last instrumental track and the bizarre "Old man rivers" I'm not a fan of him, but if you like Sufjan Stevens' album, Illinoise, you'll probably like a lot of stuff on here. There's a lot of banjo involved, so that's cool. If you like this, check out their earlier EP, "What the Hell Do I Know?" You won't be disappointed. Also if you enjoy this, check out Rogue Wave's first album "Out of the Shadow" Overall grade: 83

Honestly, I've been a super fan of these guys since I first met Chris, JP and Martin, in 2004. I'd also been an advocate for the band to run with a lot of these songs since that time. I'm really happy to see them released and excited to have some updated/reworked versions. The music continues to be poignant, soulful, fun, and fulfilling. Keep up the awesome work, guys!

Years Active: '00s

Contrary to what the band's name might indicate, Illinois formed in Pennsylvania -- Bucks County to be exact. Comprised of musicians Chris Archibald (vocals, guitar, banjo, keys), Andrew Lee (guitar, keys), Martin Hoeger (bass), and John-Paul Kuyper (drums), Illinois forged a style of indie rock that combined the grit and punchiness of the White Stripes with the easygoing vibe of Arcade Fire. Illinois released their first...
