iTunes Review

On her fourth album, Brooke Fraser touches on grand themes of human conflict and desire while hinting at the spiritual truths she’s celebrated as a worship leader with Hillsong United. Here she keeps the poetic insight of her earlier work while moving toward a moody electronica sound not unlike that of fellow New Zealand singer/songwriter Lorde. Fraser’s throaty, commanding vocals lend further heft to trenchant, beat-driven tracks like “Psychosocial,” “Kings and Queens,” and “Start a War.” From the rousing “Thunder” to the prophetic “Je suis pret,” Brutal Romantic matches lyric profundity with sleek production and indelible grooves

Love the sounds

Christians can be a judgmental lot, especially when it comes to music. Please, put away your swords—a person who is Christian does not have to sing music with that theme, and certainly doesn’t have listen to what we think. The music that is played on Christian radio these days is bland and—for the most part—tasteless and whining. There are a few exceptions, but they are certainly not the norm. I love Jesus and I don’t listen to secular music either, but that doesn’t mean I’m not willing to give this album a chance. We all resist change to one level or another, but let’s try not to cast stones at others, instead we should work out our own issues.

Brooke is Amazing

Obviously I love the old Brooke, the earthy, acoustic sounds. But I feel like her new style offers a refreshing change :))) Liked Kings and Queens and loved Psychosocial. Can't wait to see the rest of the album!!!

So awesomely creative!

So far this album is shaping up to be a refreshing splash of musical genius. I'm excited to hear the rest of it!
