For those who’ve outgrown bad theology, yet still love worship music
Music has always been my primary way of connecting with God. Growing up in a charismatic/evangelical church, modern worship music was highly emphasized and it became something I loved. Today, because my theology has changed so much, I can't sing many of those songs without cringing because the lyrics are creating an idea of God or of people that I can no longer affirm. I've felt like I've lost something very meaningful to me.
As a result, I have been very interested in music that creates the sacred spaces and facilitates prayer in ways that I remember growing up, but without all the bad theology. I've found a few sources of beautiful, authentic spiritual music, but not many. I had no idea what a gift this cd, "Buddha is My Refuge," would be when I received it from my friend, Brother ChiSing, who was visiting Minneapolis recently. It will now become a regular part of my spiritual practice. Thank you, Brother ChiSing. Peace and healing to you.
If you have theologically outgrown songs that you grew up with, please get this cd. I think it will be a blessing to you.
