iTunes Review

Don Henley's second solo album is the sound of Los Angeles singer/songwriter pop in the mid-'80s. A meditation on love, loss, and generational angst, it's as much a portrait of its time as the Eagles' Hotel California had been nearly a decade before. The album's breakout singles flaunt Henley's wide-ranging creative vision, from the achingly wistful "The Boys of Summer" through the snarky political commentary and rubbery synths of "All She Wants To Do Is Dance" to the chilling detachment of "Sunset Grill."

Warning: superlatives

Everyone has songs that they are passionate about. But I really do believe that Boys of Summer is the perfect song.

The panthers of winter

Me Kara and Jenna call don Henleys boys of summer as the panthers of winter every time we go up to hooksett or to Nashua we keep playing this song to keep us on the ice and we keep our stamina level as strong and our training up as well as I tell the girls you do not sit down and watch knuckleheads sun themselves all day so the song gears us up for training camp in hooksett and we know we stay in shape while we have it playing like I tell the girls out on route 3a we see a deadhead sticker on c78 and Jenna's voice inside me telling me don't turn back

A SINGLUAR MASTERPIECE

Don Henley captures the heart of the American ethic. If ever the children of the 60’s needed musical representation, this is it. Politically, culturally, and courageously. With great heart, hope, and melancholy. thank you Don!

Don Henley anchored the Eagles as the band's drummer, frequent frontman, and co-leader. He wrote and sang many of their biggest songs -- "Hotel California," "Desperado," "The Long Run," "Best of My Love," "Life in the Fast Lane," "One of These Nights" were among his signatures, classic rock staples all -- but he also found considerable success on his own in the '80s following the group's disbandment. He established a distinctive, flinty voice right out the gate with "Dirty Laundry," the Top 10 hit...
