Moacyr Luz is one of those composers with enormous success who is unknown to the audiences. On this, his first solo CD, are his successful compositions "Jogo Rasteiro" (with Nei Lopes), "Encontros Cariocas" (with Aldir Blanc), "Samba de Fato" (with Paulo César Pinheiro), and several others, mostly with Aldir Blanc. The intense urban poetry of the chronicler of the urban hills of Rio is competently backed by creative melodies in an album where artistic sincerity is the raw material.

Moacyr Luz has being praised as one of the greatest names of the younger generation of samba composers. He has had his compositions recorded by acts like Maria Bethânia, Emílio Santiago, Nana Caymmi, Leila Pinheiro, and Elba Ramalho, among others. Together with Aldir Blanc, he received the Sharp prize for the Best Song of the Year, for "Coração do Agreste" (recorded by Fafá de Belém), the theme of the TV Globo soap opera Tieta.
