LOVE IT

I love this movie, sadly this isnt anything like that! But it is still most of the same songs. My school, is doing this in a few months, and i am exstatic!! I have allways loved the Dorris Day collections, and havin at least the stage version of what she did, is allmost as good!!! hehe....The songs are classic, and some may really hit home, I know that I can sing them for days and days, and still remember the feeling I had when I first saw the movie....Amazing vocals are needed, and they can bring a smile to your face if done nicley...Recommend (if you want the basic best songs): at least deadwood stage, blew in from the..., i can do without you, black hills (love it), a woman's touch, and secret love.... the songs are memorable, and if you like annie get your gun, not only will you like this, you will find many simerlarities within the two shows...cough cough, they are like THE SAME PRACTICALLY cough cough..

CALAMITY POWER!!!

I love this movie!! Thanks for adding these classic songs to iTunes hahaha

The GOLD STANDARD of a recording for this work

Like the (London) National Theater's 2001 recording of SOUTH PACIFIC, the London Studio Cast recording of CALAMITY JANE is the current "gold standard" for recordings of this work. Debbie Shapiro Gravitte is wonderful in the title role. The orchestrations have perfect tempo and a rich texture. Characters are well cast. If you want to sample a few tracks, try "MEN" or "The Deadwood Stage" or "Just blew in from the Windy City". Sadly, political correctness will not allow a big broadway revival of this jewel from the American Musical Theater genre. Interesting how, as was in the case of "South Pacific", it took a London Cast to produce a recording that finally does justice to a quintessentially AMERICAN masterpiece. I bet that Sammy (Feinberg) Fain would approve of this recording. You will really love this work.

Born in N.Y.C. on June 17, 1902, Fain went on to become a prolific composer of traditional pop tunes that were oft-covered by vocalists through the decades. The composer got his start when he penned a successful song shortly after getting a job with Jack Mills as a song-plugging pianist. This first hit was 1924's "Nobody Knows What a Red Head Mamma Can Do." Other...
