Lets Get Things Straight.....

Okay. 1. The original album cover was a pool filled with a sunset and the sky made out of the waves. 2. People say that the Velvet Groove is only okay. WRONG!!! The VElvet Groove is easliy in the top three for the best tracks on the album Tied by Around the World and beat by Easily. 3. People say they are real Chili peppers fans, but the only good songs on here are Scar Tissue and Californication. YOU ARE NOT REAL FANS. Do not say you are, do not pretend you are. Just say you only like the stuff the radio plays and that Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco and the Jonas Brothers are your favorite bands. YOUR NOT FOOLING ANYONE

new stuff > old stuff

I have every RHCP album and have listened to Mother's Milk, BSSM, RHCP, Freaky Styley...and to compare those with Californication/By The Way/Stadium Arcadium just doesn't make sense. They're ALL great (except for One Hot Minute...just good) but completely different animals. Personally speaking, I have to be in the right mood to listen to the old stuff. I can (and do) listen to the latest 3 over and over again and don't get tired of them. I don't know, I just think the newer albums are just so much better than the older albums.

Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents as a long time fan who doesn't automatically spew out the "you're not a true fan unless you think [insert old album here] is the best" line.

Old School

The thing with any band thats been around for a while is that new listeners, who generally become familiar with them as a result of what's playing now, often don't go back to listen to what made them in the first place. Don't hate, just recommend something else for them. I'd rather they listen to the new stuff than not at all. Personally I was playing Freaky Styley on my college radio show when it first came out. "If you want me to stay" is still my fave RHCP tune of all and one of the best covers ever. Gotta say I am happily amazed that they are still seriously rocking. This is another solid album by the Peppers but I would always recommend getting anearlier disc as well. Freaky Styley maybe or Blood Sugar...

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Few rock groups of the '80s broke down as many musical barriers and were as original as the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Creating an intoxicating new musical style by combining funk and punk rock together (with an explosive stage show to boot), the Chili Peppers spawned a slew of imitators in their wake, but still managed to be the leaders of the pack by the dawn of the 21st century. The roots of the band lay in a friendship forged by three school chums, Anthony Kiedis, Michael Balzary, and Hillel Slovak,...
