12 Songs, 46 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Disney’s feline fantasy was also the first collaboration between Tim Rice and Elton John. Combining African influences with Rice’s plainspoken yet poetic lyrics, the pair’s songs work just as well without visuals, whether sung by the cast—including an amazing Nathan Lane, who takes lead on “Hakuna Matata”—or John himself. (The cast recording of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" is a particularly buoyant take on the Oscar-winning hit.) Portions of Hans Zimmer’s sweeping score round out the album with appropriately cinematic flair.

REASONS TO BUY THIS

First to the little... person.... who gave this album 1 star, you don't know what you're talking about. This one of those rare classics that has music that is both unforgettable and beautiful. Find one person who hasn't heard Circle of Life or Can you feel the love tonight. These are beautifully sung, amazing songs. Watch the movie too, the drawing and quality of the picture is amazing. And BUY THIS ALBUM BEFORE THEY TAKE IT OFF iTUNES!

love it, hate silly people

Disney needs to get back to this sort of music
fun with an air of something that is distinctly NOT pop music

and for whomever that was who thought that the singers on this are horrible and said they should have used kelly clarkson, hilary duff, and jesse mccartney, maybe the should think into things a bit further than they did
kelly clarkson was 12 when this movie came out... and wasn't "discovered" as a singer untill 8 years later, and hilary duff and jesse mccartney were 7! and while hilary duff did start acting 4 years later she didnt start "singing" until years and years afterwards, so how exactly could disney have used them??? not that they should have if they could have. Elton John was pretty much the ipidome of disney singing at the time, and how the heck could jesse mccarntey have replaced the voices of nathan lane and ernie sabella??? it just doesn't work. I'm guessing you (whoever you are) weren't even alive when this came out so what do you know...

anywho I am reanamored with all things disney now =) buy the album if you are old enough to remember how great disney things were, along with aladdin and beauty and the beast etc.
oh and lebo M.'s work on arranging the circle of life is amazing, you should check out rythm of the pridelands if you like that piece.

Amazing!

I think that this is one of the best soundtracks for any movie ever made. With musical masterpieces like Circle of Life and Hakuna Matata there is something for everyone
