Album Review

A warmly melodic LP of home-listening electronica produced just before the term was coined, Every Man and Woman Is a Star is a delightful concept album with dub-centric rhythms and a straightahead song structure whose only quibble is what sounds like a need for vocals to accompany the tracks. All in all, the LP deserves to be filed alongside the Orb's U.F.Orb, Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works 85-92 and Biosphere's Microgravity as an early ambient-techno classic.

"It was up in the mountains..."

"....we had this ceremony every year. We had it, and everybody for miles around came in for it. Mothers, daughters, grandaughters; everybody!" (sample spoken by some old native American...)

An awesome album of easy-listening minimal electronic music. Simply put, a genuine, real TR-808, a real, honest to god TB-303, an e-max 2 and an acoustic guitar. Cool stuff.

Of a time..

This is definitely right up there with The Orb, Fortran 5 and other musical electro luminaries of the early 90s dubby electronica scene.

A few tracks sound like they have a dash of older 808 State thrown in too. If that sounds good to you, you know what to do.

Classic

This is an absolute classic and must own album for anyone into electronic music of any sort. I always hear this compared to UF Orb and the like , and it certainly deserves to be held in such high regards. A lot of great 303 and 808 bits on here.

The group, which is made up of Paul Hammond and Ian Cooper, has a distinctively British feel and employs a wide range of instruments and sounds. Hammond and Cooper first collaborated in the avant-garde...
