Rootsy blues and Americana at its finest

If you haven’t seen Southside Johnny in recent years, you’ve missed seeing a man whose passion for music and performing still burns hot. The Poor Fools (made up of current Jukes and assorted musical luminaries) are a superbly talented and versatile band. On “Songs from the Barn” they spin up a stellar mix of acoustic blues, Americana, and rootsy folk that delights from start to finish. Great originals from Jeff Kazee and Southside Johnny mixed with a few choice covers, from the likes of Bob Dylan, Bo Diddley and Randy Newman, re-arranged to fit the Poor Fools instrumentation and musical approach. A fabulous record and a beautifully produced recording.
