iTunes Review

The Maine make all the right moves on their first album, Can’t Stop Won’t Stop. The Arizona quintet sticks close to the punk-pop rulebook, riding frisky melodies while delivering quick-sliced guitar riffs on top of aggrieved yet ecstatic vocals. It’s a mix of sugar and bile that’s been served up by everyone from the Replacements to the Starting Line and Days Away. Happily, the Maine finds a way to put a personal stamp on this now-familiar form. “Everything I Ask For,” “Girls Do What They Want” and “Kiss and Sell” are glittery sonic cherry bombs, sung by lead vocalist John O'Callaghan with nervous enthusiasm. The band attacks the post-high-school blues with honesty and humor, as “Whoever She Is” and “We’ll All Be…” show. While the Maine are capable of stinging kiss-offs (“This Is the End,” “You Left Me”), the tone here is generally idealistic, even innocent. For all the well-placed four-letter words used here, it’s the sweetness of tunes like “I Must Be Dreaming” that sticks with the listener the longest.

Customer Reviews

The Maine have dedicated themselves to hard work, and it definatley shows. Watching them blow up in popularity, rocking songs such as Daisy at first, to now such as Girls Do What They Want, and I Must Be Dreaming, they've been the same band from the start. Every band goes through changes, though The Maine shows through all. From small local shows, to shows with Boys Like Girls, Good Charlotte, All Time Low, Mayday Parade, Metro Station, Every Avenue, We The Kings, The Academy Is..., 3OH!3, Family Force 5, A Rocket To The Moon, Hit The Lights, and many more, The Maine, you gotta love them. Their cover of Pour Some Sugar On Me... makes me breathless. I can't wait for The Maine's new album, whenever that will be. For now though? This will DEFINATLEY suffice. P.S. You know, if you're on Twitter, you would have seen that Garrett, John, and Kennedy (probably Jared and Pat later today, and probably The Maine's offical name) said that something went wrong on iTunes, and that In Person will be sold seperatley in 2 weeks. Yes, that's slightly a long time, but if you're a true fan, and you accept them for what they do, making music for the love of it, not FOR US, then you'd understand, and be polite. I'm going to wait, I reccomend that you do so also.

I'm so confused

K, basically obsessed with the Maine. Seriously, but I thought Into Your Arms' music video was suppose to be on here?! besides this, obvioulsy this album is amazing.

sad :(

i love the maine, but i'm disappointed that i can't just buy the "in person" video by itself. i already bought the cd when it first came out. for some reason i thought that i'd be able to buy the "in person" for $3.99... :( i'm sad.

Formed: 2007 in Tempe, AZ

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Despite sharing their name with a northeastern state, the Maine formed in 2007 in Tempe, Arizona, a collegiate suburb of Phoenix. Most of the bandmembers -- singer John O'Callaghan, guitarists Kennedy Brock and Jared Monaco, bassist Garrett Nickelsen, and drummer Pat Kirch -- were in high school at the time, and the guys wasted little time turning their '90s radio rock band influences into a familiar, infectious pop-punk sound. The Maine signed to Fearless Records and released a five-song concept...
