Notas editoriales de iTunes

Sometimes a soundtrack is far more than an incidental supplement to the film that spawned it. Case in point: the soundtrack to the 1976 comedy Car Wash, seized by producer extraordinaire Norman Whitfield as an opportunity to debut Rose Royce, his first act since leaving Motown. With Whitfield at the helm, the L.A. R&B powerhouse waxed a masterpiece that packed no less than three classics: the title track, with its four-on-the-floor pulse swaddled in lush strings; "I Wanna Get Next To You," a swoon-inducing ballad easily the equal of "Just My Imagination"; and a nervous breakdown of a torch ballad by the name of "I'm Going Down." And that's just for starters, a warm-up to the funk fire that is "Daddy Rich" and the ten-minute slab of instrumental nirvana, "Sunrise." Blending disco, funk, and sweet soul, Car Wash was a career milestone for both Whitfield and Rose Royce, a collection that elevated the soundtrack to high art.

If you're really into good music.... and more

think about it. This was a time when the music was being written for the purpose of music not because it was going to be on some lame selling movie album that might sell better than the movie. These songs were it then, and today they still do test the ultimate test---TIME! They hold up, every one of the songs that I listened to; back in '76 still sounds strong today because a great degree of talent and skill went into making it happen. I challenge what is coming out today to make that same statement.

Car wash & Rose Royce

This record makes you feel like you're living in the 1970's disco era. "I wanna get next to you" is the best song for chillin out with your girl. Car Wash puts you in the mood not only for love, but it changes your mind set. Sunrise and Yo Yo are amazing chill out songs. If you're having a bad day play this record and I promise you will feel better. I can't live without this album. It's a must have!

Definitely one of the best soundtracks ever. Everything here is in the pocket and good to yer earhole. The most famous tracks (title track, "I Wanna Get Next to You, & "I'm Going Down") are undisputedly classic. But don't sleep on "Put Your Money...," "Born to Love You," "Daddy Rich," "You Gotta Believe," and "Water" (which sounds like a cross btw Whitfield's "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" and his "Papa Was A Rolling Stone.") BUY THIS. PERIOD. (And go rent the movie. Also a classic.)
