Carlito's Way

Patrick Doyle collaborated with Director Brian DePalma to fashion a filmscore for "Carlito's Way" that will haunt you forever. The emotions stirred by the gorgeous strings used in tracks 1, 2, and 11 have a power that derives from the horrid inevitability of "the fall" of a simple man who just can never escape his surroundings. Al Pacino gives perhaps his most touching and heartfelt performance as a small-time gangster who tries desperately to go straight only to be betrayed by those he trusts. To capture this drama, Doyle finds a theme, expressed throughout the movie(in addition to the jazz and action pieces), which will tug on your heart as you pull for Carlito to make it through to the peace and love he seeks and deserves. If you wish to be moved by sheer beauty, the likes of which is rarely equaled in filmscores today, esspecially now that maestro John Barry has been unfortunately shunted aside in his later years, you should choose "Carlito's Way" to add to your soundtrack collection.
