Real Country is alive and well!

North Carolina native, Caleb Caudle has managed to make a record that is somewhat of a throwback to the great country music of the 70s and 80s, while still sounding relevant to the present.
The album opens with the uptempo, Gotta Be, a song that breathes a familiar note, reminiscent of Haggard or Strait. The haunting title track, anchored by Greg Herndon’s Wurlitzer piano, sounds like a nod to the Glen Campbell “countrypolitan” sound of 70s.
White Doves Wing kicks off with a tasteful dobro riff that will have you hooked before the first verse begins. It’s a song that many of the neo-blugrass acts would love to have in their catalogs. The standout track is the beautiful ballad, Uphill Battle. Wonderfully & sparsely arranged, the song leaves ample space for the emotional message created by Caudle’s incredible bluesy baritone. Borrowed Smiles and Broken Hallelujah are both country gold, featuring fine interplay between guitarist, Tommy Scifres & pedal steel player, Brett Resnick.
Tuscaloosa and Steel and Stone are both ballads that bring to mind 90s era, Clint Black.
Despite the comparisons, Caudle sounds truly original. These are songs that will remind you of things you’ve heard before. But, after the final chords of The Reddest Rose, you will only be thinking two things. These songs are great & Caleb Caudle is the real deal.

Excellent album

Heavy on the steel guitar but not twangy. A nearly perfect album.

Another Layer for Caleb Caudle

Call it being in the zone, sweet spot, G-spot, Caleb Caudle's last two releases are there. "Carolina Ghost" is an excellent follow up to his last, "Paint Another Layer On My Heart." "Carolina Ghost" reveals the talented song-writing of this troubadour. The session musicians on the these recordings are equally skilled, seasoned players in the country-americana genre. Another great effort from Caleb!
