The Diva Returns!

This is how good music is done. The past couple of cd's that Jody has put out have ventured into the electronic, downtempo, club area. Since I am a huge fan of such artists as King Britt, 4Hero, Ananda Project and Mark De Clive-Lowe, I was very excited to hear that she has worked with these talented artists on her new album. The "makeover" of Don't You Want Me and Waiting In Vain are worth the price alone, and I Want Your Love is just SEXY! Absolutely brilliant beautiful after hours music to dance, chill or have a coctail with a group of friends. The new tracks A Beautiful Life and The Makeover are classic Jody, bringing a fresh new sound to a much needed uninspired music industry. I'm not a huge fan of the Carpenters, but Jody's medley of 3 of their hits is a nice distraction. I'm hoping the rest of the country catches up to what the rest of the world already knows, Jody has a great ear for music and is always one step ahead. Hasta La Vista Baby!

Makeover Hangover!!!!!

After downloading the CD yesterday on iTunes, I cannot get enough! Ms. Watley makes these songs her own! For those of you stuck in the 80's (and your ideas of her from the 80's), the time has come to move on! Ms. Jody Watley has moved forward and you, too, should! This CD will make you wanna dance, wanna chill and just appreciate what great music is all about! BUY IT!!!!!!

Diamond in the Ruff!

Oddly, I found this album while searching for some lounge music in the "electronica" genre. I was a big JW fan back in the 80's and I am delighted to see her back with a mature, 21st century, and up-beat-but-mellow elegance! The makeovers of her orginal works are refreshing yet filled the nostalgia of the 80's. I am enamored with her makeovers of Bob Marley's Waiting in Vain (it rivals Anne Lennox's rendition on her album Medusa), the Karen Carpenter medley, and Diana Ross' Love Hangover-each with a 21st Century edge that takes you back to the 70's and 80's. My favorite-and props to Jody for taking on my favorite Madonna song ever- is her makeover of Borderline-I have just found another way to "loose my mind"-AWESOME! In all this is an excellent album and Jody Watley is to be commended for making over-not rendering-some great music!
