Editors’ Notes

On one level, Rush of Fools’ Carry Us Now is very much a contemporary studio creation, combining the sort of bracing acoustic folk sounds popularized by Mumford & Sons and The Avett Brothers with touches of electronica and radio-friendly pop. But it’s equally true that this Alabama-rooted Christian quintet’s fourth album is inspired by the traditions of church hymnody, adding greater weight to its spiritual content. Carry Us Now can be classed as a worship project, with frontman Wes Willis’ earnest Everyman vocals giving its lyrics the quality of personal prayers. Tracks like “Take Me Over,” “My Heart Cries Out,” and “Lord Have Mercy” are reverent calls for salvation offered with humility and gratitude. Particularly striking is “Power in the Blood,” a galloping number that revisits the timeless language of a classic hymn within a fresh musical context. Sparkling mandolin and rousing gang vocals boost the energy level of “Lay Me Down,” while a caressing string arrangement enhances the contemplative mood of “God of My Salvation.” An acoustic reworking of the band’s 2007 breakthrough hit “Undo” closes with a final prayer for redemption and healing.

Great Worship Music

This is a great album to listen to for a personal worship experience, or if you are a local worship leader looking for songs to bless your congregation.

I've been a fan of Rush of Fools for years, and I'm glad to see them return to the sound of their glory days! Their first two albums had a unique sound that only they could produce with such spiritual hype. Their third album was a new, stronger Rush of Fools with deeper, underlying meanings in their lyrics and a harder rock sound full of distorted guitars and driving drum beats. They're back with something even better! I'm very excited for this album and hope it is a BIG success! These guys have been preparing long and hard, and all their work has culminated into this new album, which is sure to hit the charts. Every song on here so far is fantastic! I'm cheering these Jesus freaks on from their homestate of Alabama so War Eagle. :) I wish them good luck with the hopefully amazing success of this new album!

Inspiring and Amazing!

This band visited a camp I went to over the summer as worship leaders. When I first heard them I did not have a clue what to think of them, but they were fantastic and were inspiring to me and everyone at my camp. They really showed their love for god through their music and I came closer to god that week at camp.

It's the kind of story that most bands dream will happen to them: small band from medium-sized city goes to bigger city battle of the bands, ends up winning, gets record contract, and the first single is a hit. This was pretty much what happened to Christian rock outfit Rush of Fools in 2006-2007. Formed in Birmingham, AL, the band traveled without expectation to Nashville to compete in a Christian rock competition called "Band with a Mission." Needless to say, the band won and scored a recording...
