About Sequoyah Tiger

Verona, Italy's Leila Gharib records retro-flavored electronic pop music under the name Sequoyah Tiger. Her music incorporates melodies reminiscent of '50s-era pop into a flurry of lush, dreamy electronics and guitars, and her songs are charming and quirky as well as yearning and wistful. Highly involved with her home city's art scene, Gharib is an accomplished visual and performance artist, publishes zines, and directs her own music videos. She played in the indie rock group Bikini the Cat during the 2000s, and co-founded the performing arts company Barokthegreat in 2008. She began releasing Sequoyah Tiger demo EPs in 2014, and the project signed to iconic indie electronic label Morr Music in 2016. The EP Ta-Ta-Ta-Time, featuring the single "Hey Paul Anka," appeared that year, as did Sequoyah Tiger's split single with Saroos, which included both artists remixing each other's songs. Sequoyah Tiger's debut full-length, Parabolabandit, followed in 2017. ~ Paul Simpson
