The boys have done it again!

For old fans of A-ha who followed them from the beginning and stuck through their renaissance periods – to the original fans who thought they only released a couple of albums and were the quintessential "one-hit-wonders", Cast In Steel has something for everyone. The sound of A-ha has mellowed over the years (not that it was ever "edgy"), but the voice will bring you back. Morten can still hit the high notes, although the songs are not dominated by his perfect falsetto anymore. Paul's pop songwriting is still on point, but I think by this time the music and lyrics are a collaborative effort.

The songs of Cast In Steel have a driving tempo, keeping you engaged and focused on the journey. Each song has a unique soul, with standouts being the title track, Cast In Steel (reminds me of songs from Foot of the Mountain), Objects in the Mirror (Lifelines?) and Living at the End of the World (I can hear Memorial Beach). They still bring out some strings here and there, and most of the songs have a background synth pulsating in and out with a bass line and some contemporary electro 'bling.'

The sound of Cast in Steel on the whole is still as full and rich as you remember from A-ha. Play this album at your next dinner party and bet your guests they can't guess who is flowing from the speakers. And if you are one of those fans who never knew A-ha was still making music, find their discography and start where you left off. Each album is a gem on the A-ha crown.

They're Back!

Thanks goodness I checked in on this today. I missed the melodically calm melodramatic a-ha sound. This album is another great one, and will easily keep me singing during my daily drive to and from work for years to come. Thank you so much for making another album guys!

Absolution!

I can't stop listening! My heart is pounding. Thank you guys for this album. Amazing job you've done ! Would you be a darling and add USA to your tour please?

Genre: Pop

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Pal Waaktaar and Magne Furuholmen, formerly of Bridges, formed a-ha in the early '80s. Morten Harket joined the duo, and they left for the now "legendary London flat" (so called because of its state of disrepair) to make it. By late 1983 they had achieved part of that goal by signing to WEA. "Take on Me" took three times to become a hit in the U.K., eventually hitting number two in November 1985. Going one better in the U.S. mainly due to the wide exposure of its stunning video on MTV, which fused...
