A great choice for the classic opera

I listened to multiple versions of this opera before finally selecting the James Levine led version. in fact, I bought the 1953 version on Regis, which is very good but …

The newer 1979 production of this with a much larger and richer orchestra is luxurious to listen to. Much much fuller than any of the Opera orchestras. James Levine is a master of pace and cadence, and it can be heard here. If needed, he puts on the brakes and allows the voices to provide exquisite definition.

You won't go wrong with this version.
