iTunes Review

Andrew McMahon, who’d been the guiding voice and songwriter of Something Corporate and Jack’s Mannequin, goes the solo route as Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness. As a cancer survivor, McMahon has an unusually deep connection to the vagaries of life, while the birth of his daughter brought him happiness and inspired the grand radio pop of “Cecilia and the Satellite” with its Bastille-like breakout of "ohs" and "whoas." “All Our Lives,” “Black and White Movies,” and “Driving Through a Dream” capture the otherworldly glitz and glamour of modern pop music. The somber piano-based “See Her on the Weekend” speaks to loved ones missed.

I Have Not Actually Heard The Album Yet

And I have little idea of what it entails; however, I am going to extrapolate that it is phenomenal, just based on the absolute truth that Andrew McMahon is a brilliantly kind, talented human being who does little wrong.

So this review should actually be invalid at this moment of writing because it is based on an assumption, but come October 14th, it will be truth.

(Really, iTunes should not allow premature album reviews, but that is a larger issue outside the realm of this review.)

But anyway, buy the album; I am very sure you will enjoy it. Or at the very least, go sample some Everything in Transit tracks by Andrew’s previous band, Jack’s Mannequin, as that album is absolutely, stupendously superb.

And if you have a little extra time, you should check out Andrew’s charity, the Dear Jack Foundation, read his story, and possibly make a donation. It’s really rather worthwhile.

Be well, friends. (Go Andy!)

To think I was going to spend my last 10 bucks elsewhere.

I had ideas of movies to rent today, Its one of those days I just want to spend inside and literally do nothing. You know the feeling. I hope. I happened to catch Andrew's name under new music released and then i literally shivered at the thought of what Konstantine has done to my insides over the last decade. To be honest I was scared to preview these songs. Im single and had my heart broken over a four year relationship and blah blah blah you know the story. But this is the kind of music that has such feeling that makes you want that special one to be there laying right with you. As soon as I previewed the first song, I knew my (I Tunes bank account) and day were spent. There are few musicians who bear their naked soul in every entire song they write. Hell few even write all of their own music. Andrew does both. Buy this album. Help save real music. Help put his name up there above musicians who have entire albums based on their silicone body parts. This.Is.Real.Music. Thank you for another beautiful album, and helping restore my faith in music today

Awesome

I grew up listening to Something Corporate and Jacks Mannequin. I'm liking his new pop sound with similar rhythms of older projects. Can't wait for the release!
