Gorgeous and Epic

This was Common Children's last record and I think it's their best. It's probably one of the last records recorded on two inch tape. With this record Common Children moved more and more into their own private dream land. Sonically, this record will transport you to the stratosphere. The record still has it's heavy moments with songs like "Celebrity Virtue" but for the most part this is space rock at it's finest. Lyrically, this album is way more mature than Skywire--check out "Crashing Down" as proof of this statement... Flat out, I love this record and I think it's a shame this band never got their fair shake.

One of my favorite Christian Cds in recent years

Common Children's 3rd album takes a more hopefull and sentimental tone- only one agressive song on this album. It blends nicely among the others that were inspired from his newlywed life. Dreamy as ever, this band still shows growth and maturity musically. It is sonically rich and not as abrasive. Nice for driving or walking at night. There are two solid radio singles on this project "Entertaining Angels" and "Always on the Outside" with memorable melody hooks. The physical Cd itself also includes a music video that may not be available on iTunes. I enjoy this album often. Marc Byrd is now a member of The Choir on "O how the mighty have fallen"(2005) and the band "Hammock" if you want more from him.

This album is gorgeous

Save a couple of overly poppy songs, I think this album is one of the most beautiful in my collection of secular and christian music. I've loved this band for many years, and although this is different then their first album, you can see them heading here from Delicate Fade. Especially all the string work and ambient instrumnetation. The song Absence of light is like musical chamomille that calms my soul and has honestly provided comfort through some dark times. I also highly recomment How Many Times and Redemtions for those who are looking for a musical escape. I hope this album is Inbetween the first ones and a couple more. Check out Glassbyrd to see what Marc Bryd and his wife Christine Glass are doing these days.
