Album Review

Tracking their steady rise from emo kingmakers Doghouse Records to major label RCA, Playlist: The Very Best of Say Anything collects some of the emo-pop band's greatest hits into one compilation. Drawing heavily from sophomore album ...Is a Real Boy and the eponymous Say Anything, with a few tracks from In Defense of the Genre thrown in for good measure, the album sticks to the band's most visible work. Without any songs from Say Anything’s hard-to-find debut, Baseball: An Album by Say Anything, or any of the slew of EPs they’ve released, this collection is better suited for new listeners than fans searching for deep cuts and unreleased material. Those seeking a condensed introduction to the band, however, will find that Playlist: The Very Best of Say Anything has what they’re looking for.

Great Album!!

Personally, it's hard to pick and choose which Say Anything songs should be on a greatest hits playlist since every song they record are lyrically and musically rich and original. Of course, these songs are really good and would be a great way to introduce yourself to the band if you've never heard them before. I highly recommend giving this album a listen to and broaden your musical taste to a band as diverse and unique as Say Anything. Max Bemis really pours his heart out in each and every song, and that has to be one of the most crucial elements in their music.

Say Anything

My favorite band, their songs never get old. <3

Say what You Want

I loooooove these songs;
Alive with the glory of love
Do better
I want to know your plans.
I think I'm a little obsessed. My friends don't get why I love this band, and frankly, neither do I. I just love it. It's like second nature... If that makes any sense. LOVE IT. GET IT. THEN LOVE IT AGAIN.

Say Anything are the pop-punk brainchild of Max Bemis, who founded the band while its initial members were still attending high school in Los Angeles. Although the lineup has since featured a rotating cast of characters, Bemis remains at the band's core, spinning tales of insecurity and frustration with help from longtime drummer Coby Linder. Say Anything made their studio debut with two self-released and self-produced EPs -- Junior Varsity! and Menorah/Majora, the latter being released online --...
