Venky Kudumula’s romantic comedy Chalo gets a lift from one of Telugu cinema’s most inventive musical storytellers, composer Mahati Swara Sagar. “Cheppave Balamani” starts out as a light, mid-tempo charmer, before a grinding guitar line marks a hard turn to rock anthem. “Chal Godava” and “Ammaye Challo Antu” stand out as huge, brash dance tracks that push the art form forward—working in rap and stylised electro-instrumental breaks—while the dramatic “Choosi Chudangane” taps a more classical sound. Expect the unexpected.
