Very Live at Buddy's Place

Of interest to tenor players is Mr. Sal Nistico who also played with Woody Herman and Count Basie. No slouch, he. Sal was a true monster of the instrument he loved, and it shows on these cuts. I was lucky enough to dig this group in-person, including the fun of interviewing (for TV) Buddy when his place opened. The other musicians are superb, too, for Buddy wouldn't allow mediocrity onto his bandstand.

are u kidding me!

what recording were u listening to baBADsax! these musicians are killin it. how could u possibly say they young(ok, they were then) and inexperienced. This recording has Sonny Fortune and Sal Nistico on reeds, Anthony jackson on bass, Kenny Barron on piano and Jimmy Maeulan on congas. Obviously some of the most killing muscians in NYC at that time! This is an excellent recording of an excellent band!

Nica Dream is,, Swingin'

Nobody will ever play like Buddy Rich, nobody~
