One of the greatest salsa records ever! See SALSA FEVER ORCHESTRA!!!!!

In the 1970's, producer Frankie Gregory spared no expense when he put the first of three PR All-Stars records together. The record features the singing talent of ANDY MONTANEZ, MARVIN SANTIAGO, PAQUITO GUZMAN & LUIGUI TEXIDOR, The arrangements were carefully given to salsa's royalty such as: RAFAEL ITHIER- "Cachomba", PAPO LUCCA- "Changuiri", ELIAS LOPEZ- "Introduccion PR All-Stars", JORGE MILLET- "A Mi Manera" & "Reunion En La Cima", MARIO ORTIZ- "Budo", GUNDA MERCED- "Canto A Borinquen". Other musicians include: ELLIOTT ROMERO, ENDEL DUENO, MANOLITO GONZALEZ, TONY SANCHEZ, POLITO HUERTAS, ELADIO PEREZ, JUANCITO TORRES, AUGIE ANTOMATTEI, ALDO TORRES, RAFI TORRES. The recording was engineered by JESUS "PAPO" SANCHEZ and overseen by JOHN FAUSTY. Check out the two records by the SALSA FEVER ORCHESTRA: SALSA FEVER & QUE VIVAN LOS ESTUDIANTES. They were the follow up albums to the 3 PUERTO RICO ALL STAR recordings. GUNDA MERCED took care of the musical production on these. Great stuff!!!!

Review: Puerto Rico All-Stars Vol. 1

When I first heard some of the songs in this album back in the late 80's, I had a cassette recorder and wasted no time in pressing the record button as the this orquestra impressed the hell out of me. When I finally found the cd earlier this decade, I bought it like buying a bottle of water, no hesitation what so ever. Most of the musicians in this band were left off the fania all-stars and that's why they decided to do it. What an orquestra!! My favorite song in this treasure is Andy's "Reunion En La Cima", masterfully performed by Andy Montanez. An extremely close second is Marvin Santiago's "Los Tambores", a song that starts rather mysterious as you hear a lp being abused by the dj, of course, is special effects. "Introduccion Puerto Rico All-Stars", is perhaps one of the best starts an album can have, what a song, just magnificent. The instrumental "Budo", is a taste of the great sound of this excellent orquestra. The rest are also good but nothing like these mentioned songs. An excellent gathering of pure Puerto Rican power as they were so good they did three volumes!! Enjoy it!!

This Album Is Pure Classic Salsa, One Of My Favorites Of All Times. Great Songs,Singers, Musicians, Sound Is One Of The Most Creative Ive Ever Heard, If I Would Ever Record An Album I Would Want It To Sound Like This One. So Dont Waste Time If Youre A Salsa Fanatic And You Looking For The Classics This One Should've Been In Your Collection Already..Dont Sleep On It
