A St. Louis Legend Brings It Home Again

My first photography teacher at college introduced me to Bob Reuter, who studied with him some time before I did. I still remember what our mutual teacher said about him: "Bob is a great photographer, a fantastic photographer. But he's an even better musician." Despite those accolades, it took me years to finally get a chance to hear him perform, and when I did, it was with Alley Ghost. I was an immediate fan. This is rock-n-roll at its roots, pure and unadulterated. It's best listened to live, in a place heavily scented of smoke and booze and sweat. It's humid summer nights in Soulard and bitterly cold evenings at Blueberry Hill, hot on the heels of Chuck Berry. It's the kind of music that your mother would have openly disapproved of 50 years ago … before sneaking out to hear them play after you'd gone to bed.

I can't recommend this group enough. Well done.
